  Properly Adjusting Images for Posting
Posted by: jspurbeck - 01-30-2019, 01:01 PM - Forum: Hints - No Replies

Generally speaking, Cameras (especially phone cameras) come with the factory setting set to take the best possible picture.  That's good!.

What's "bad" is that the quality comes at a cost.  The images are contained in files (jpg, etc).  These "high-quality" files are huge is size.  This huge size prevents high-speed transfers on websites.

So, in order to keep the internet flowing smoothly, and quickly, webmasters have to "limit" the size of files included for upload to their website.

This website and webmaster are no different.  (Try to upload a large file from your camera to other sites such as craigslist.org, and you will get an error message.  Other sites, such as Facebook, automatically adjust your image quality for you, but you don't get to control it.   Western Intellect doesn't do that.  Instead, we ask that you try harder to achieve a great effect for your posts.

Using a simple image editor such as Paint, the first thing you want to do is trim off those portions of your picture that are not necessary to convey your point of interest.  "Is that fence in the background really necessary?", or "Why is the subject so small in this big picture?"  Trimming the excess highlights your subject, while getting rid of  "unnecessary" file-space "waste", and also helps you save space on your device, as well.

Then, many image editing products have "filters".  These "filters" help you prepare your image for web publishing.

If you want to include an image in a post, you must upload them as attachments first.

The "insert image" button, above, on the toolbar, is to insert images from somewhere on the web.

To insert an image from your phone or other device, you must add them as attachment first.

See below.  You "Browse" for new attachments.  (You may include multiple files using your device tools).  After the file(s) is/are selected, don't forget to press the "Add Attachment" button.  This will cause the selected files to be uploaded to Western Intellect.  Once the upload is completed, you can then use the image(s) menu to further work with your image, including "inserting it into the post".

Joel Osteen Ministries is more about buying their products (books, tickets, autographs) than saving souls.

  Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX)
Posted by: jspurbeck - 01-29-2019, 11:26 AM - Forum: Political Enemies of Veterans - No Replies

As House Ways and Means Chairman, Mr. Brady was responsible for figuring out how to pay for everything relating to funding the US Government's functions, which includes funding for Veterans Programs.

His major challenge was how to pay for it in the midst of a huge federal deficit brought about by President Trump and Republican Party forcing through a tax cut, primarily for the rich, which we now know went to stockholders and stock-buybacks on Wall Street.

ChampVA is a unique program, similar to Medicare.  It is unique in that it serves a very narrow set of constituents.  Constituents that normally wouldn't raise their voices.  Wives and children of 100% Service-Connected Veterans.  That is, those veterans who became disabled because of their service to our nation.  100% Disabled.  Their wives and children don't get Medicare because they are usually too young.  They can't get Obamacare or Trump-care or whatever-care because the veteran makes "just above" the poverty-line.  Of course that veteran can't afford coverage for their family.  So, this is where ChampVA comes in to "save the day" for those veterans and their families.

So, how does Kevin and his staff do it?

Cut the staff at ChampVA.  No one answers the phones to "pre-authorize" all services, and the veterans don't the "pre-authorization" expected by the doctors (those doctors who are willing to help, that is).  Those doctors who haven't already been burned by ChampVA.  No workers to process the claims.  You get it.  It saves money.  Not a whole lot of money.  But "it adds up".

When contacted by this concerned veteran, Mr. Brady's assigned me to Hogan Husk, who handed me off to their veteran's affairs expert.  I can't remember this gentleman's name, although he was a bit over-confident, but he didn't answer my questions.  Instead he said that they were working on new programs or something to that effect.

So, what does a veterans do while we wait for "them" to come up with something "new".

Over and over we hear just how much Mr. Brady cares for veterans.

Here is an example.

He is proud to announce a "victory for veterans", but absolutely nothing has changed based on that "victory".  At the VA hospitals, clinics, regional offices, and other Veterans Administration "managed" facilities, veterans issues are now much worse.  "Once again, our leaders take a victory lap, without having done a damn thing except jaw-jack", says a veteran outside the VA Regional Office in Houston, TX.

"I think Kevin's time in the sun is just about over", says a self-described "conservative" veteran in Brady's turf, the Texas 8th.

  The Chinese need better stuff

So sorry.

Your government would rather give it's money to tyrants instead of investing in your future at home.

Omar Al-Bashir, the dictator of Sudan (most notably of "Darfur" fame), has a comfortable Relationship with China.

Idriss Deby, the dictator of Chad, receives loads of cash from his Relationship with China.

Yahya Jammeh
the dictator of Gambia, known for shooting students, disappearances, imprisonments, any many other atrocities, is well-liked by the Chinese Government, not surprisingly.  The poor Gambians are selling their infrastructure to China on the cheap.  When they can't pay, and it breaks, they will ask to build a military presence.  Former Gambian President Barrow, sold the country.  It is now up to Yahya to keep the people in line.

Ongoing list.  To be edited.
